I read The Hawk and the Jewel back in October and wrote a paragraph on it during my reading review that month. I’ve finally gotten around to writing the full review, so here it is!

Review: My overall impression of the book was just satisfaction. I picked it up to read a clean, quiet romance, and I definitely got that out of it. Some parts were a little bit odd. The main character, Sunny, is in her young teens and her behavior is a little inconsistent at times, but I suppose one could chalk that up to the circumstances she finds herself in.
This is a Christian romance, and although it was fairly good in that aspect, I usually have to complain a little about how unrealistic these types of books make Christianity sound. But since I’ve come to expect that from Christian writers, I’ll live with it.
I will say, for the most part, I enjoyed the hero, Brandon. He could have been developed more than he was, though.
The story line/plot was quite good and easy to follow. As a quiet, relaxing book to read, it was almost just right.

It’s always hard to write a review about anything you’re neutral about. Something that wasn’t terrible and wasn’t great, which sounds a bit like this book. I think you’ve done a really good job of being fair.
